Combating Global Warming

Combating Global Warming As already pointed out in the previous blog entries, global warming is a serious problem that we cannot afford to ignore. As such we support various initiatives which are aimed at addressing the problem. Some of the ways that have been established to have significant impact on global warming include fully abandoning burning of fossil fuels and adopting renewable energy, adopting fuel efficient systems and machines, planting of additional trees n large scale, stopping destruction of forests, controlling commercial agriculture, and by reducing, recycling and reusing of wastes. Migrating from Fossil Fuels If we truly wants to combat global warming then we have to rapidly migrate from fossil fuels and adopt renewable energy. Abandoning usage of fossil fuels will serve to greatly reduce the amount of greenhouse gases (GHGs) which we are emitting into the atmosphere. With less GHGs in the atmosphere, the warming effect of these gases will be greatly red...

Causes of Global Warming

Global Warming Greenhouse Effect (Image Source: The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change ) As already explained in the earlier post, global warming is a product of increased levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere which serve to trap/absorb heat from the sun, preventing the heat from escaping into the outer space thereby resulting in increasing global temperature. This process is what is referred to as Greenhouse Effect and the gases that contribute to it are called greenhouse gases which include water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and ozone (O3). According to Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, human activities that contribute to the emission of these gases into the atmosphere are the major causes of global warming. These activities include burning of fossil fuels, cutting down of rainforests, mining, commercial agriculture, and farming livestock. Burning of Fossil Fuels Industrial Emission ( Image source:Na...

Global Warming and Why We Must Save the Planet

Hello there Earth Moran, Let me ask you this question, suppose you work at the International Space Station and one day as you enjoy viewing one of the sunsets on Earth, a huge asteroid come from nowhere hitting the planet, sending it spinning into the sun, where would you go? Of course, you would be homeless and possibly die once the Space Station can no longer  support your life. Okay, the probability of that happening is almost zero, but you get what am getting into, right? We only have one home, the Earth, and if we destroy it, we would have nowhere to call home. In fact we will die with the planet and just like that human life will become extinct. So you get it, no one wants to think of the possibility of human extinction. However, the truth is, if we do not change our ways of life, then the possibility of making the planet inhabitable to us becomes more real. It is for this reason that we must join the likes of Greta Thunberg, the sixteen-year-old Swedish clim...
